Squatching Learning

Resources for Learning/Teaching

Quote of Inspiration

The spread of secondary and latterly tertiary education has created a large population of people, often with well-developed literary and scholarly tastes, who have been educated far beyond their capacity to undertake analytical thought.--P.B. Medawar

Wechsler - Intelligence Defined... "The global capacity of a person to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with his/her environment."

Notice the ability to absorb Academic information is not found in there anywhere.

Squatching UnLearning

UNLEARNING by squatching the norms of learning in modern education.

This is your opportunity to begin the process of "True Learning".

Natural and uninhibited, by shared experiences in un-learning.

WELCOME to resources and reviews of Resources for effective Learning & Teaching

We endeavor to share only the most effective methods for learning/teaching and their proven results.

Learning/Teaching is one in the same, we are all here to simultaneously learn how to teach and teach how to learn while both learning and teaching ourselves.

Education is not the responsibility of a limited few dedicated teachers, it is everyone's responsibility and as a society we are all failing. Ultimately the learner decides what they will learn, the educator/teacher/presenter can only help encourage and support learning, and inspire the burning desire for the learners to go on and develop a more thorough knowledge of the subject at hand.

Enjoy your visit, join and share what you have learned works best for you.

Teachers sometimes forget...

To know how to suggest is the great art of teaching. To attain it we must be able to guess what will interest; we must learn to read the childish soul as we might a piece of music. Then, by simply changing the key, we keep up the attraction and vary the song.

Don't forget to dot your i's

I bet you don't know what the dot on top of the i is called.

Excerpted from Wikipedia:
The English word "tittle" is a cognate of tilde and title and refers to the dot on top of a lowercase i.

I wonder if titillate is related. "Until I dotted all my i's and crossed all my t's my readers were never titillated."

food for thought.

Writing As Punishment

It's hard to believe that with all the illiteracy running rampant in our Post Graduate crowd, that educators would actually try to make Writing a punishment, something to be dreaded. Bloggiing appears to be the greatest boon to encourage writing on all levels and yet, now it can be considered punishment and looked down upon. Here's a little blog post with links to others on the topic. - Your Uncle BobSquatch.

Unlearning for those who need it and Learning/Teaching, for the lucky ones that haven't been exposed to the wrong methods yet.
